hand cramp...

Imagine that...I've been in classes for almost a month now, and I haven't experienced hand crampage to the degree I am experiencing it now. Yes, Maid of Honour duties have officially commenced, and I am sitting here writing addresses on envelopes. Having the pressure of handwriting addresses so it actually looks nice is really quite stressful. Things were going quite well until I messed up on a number 9. I couldn't believe it. Oh well at least it wasn't a 1, now that would have been embarassing. Not as embarassing as going to Medicine Hat to see the Canadian Idol Finale though.

to the abnormals of this world....

So I've come to the conclusion that there are simply just some strange people in this world. Last night I encountered two of them. I went for a swim last night and I was sitting in the Sauna afterwards and this girl started talking to me about all her deepest problems. I don't want to sound completely heartless, but I must say, I was a little taken a back when the first sentence out of this girls mouth was "so, my friend found the perfect spot to jump off the bridge and not die, but who knows, maybe he does want to die." I was slightly concerned, and in my typical psychology fashion told her she should consider getting some help for this friend. But then she continued to tell me all about how she liked to prove boys wrong when it comes to cars becuase she knows so much about them. Why does she know so much about cars? Well becuase her dad raised her to be a boy. Okay, too much information. I was glad that I didn't have to say much becuase this girl was talking a mile a minute.
So before I found out some information that I REALLY didn't want to know, I thought it would be best if I headed outta there. This is where I had strange encounter #2. As I was leaving the University, this guy pipes up from behind me, "So, do you know what I do to people who don't hold the door for me?" I'm in a state of panic at this point, trying to remember whether or not I had held the door for him. "I slam the door back at them as fast as I can and then say %$*#, I'm so sorry." But then he proceeded to thank me for holding the door becuase after all I am a Canadian and Canadians should be nice people. Then he walks with me for a bit and says "Don't worry, I'm not following you." and then darts off in a completely different direction. Strange.
These two incidents have made me realize that hanging out at the university after the sun goes down is probably a bad idea. It's when the creatures of the night emerge.

wedding mania...

One thing this year is going to be is the year of weddings! With that being said…congratulations to Haleigh & Brian and Susan & Darcen.
Haleigh and Brian are getting married on May 5 in Ohio. I remember when Haleigh first arrived in Europe and our phone conversations revolved mostly around this cute curly haired boy. Who would have known that he would one day be her husband?! I must say I’m quite excited to enter Amish Country for the wedding festivities. Wedding mayhem has started to surface as wedding invitations, dress patterns, bridal magazines are strewn about the house and strange messages are being left for the Bride-To-Be. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Haleigh’s dress, and I must say, it is quite the gown! All eyes will be on the girl in white in a few short months. Brian is in school in Virginia, he will finish his semester and head to Ohio in preparation for the wedding. They will spend the summer traveling and having fun, and together will head to Virginia in late August where Brian will continue his studies. You two have and exciting life to look forward too, and I’ll be happy for you when you will finally be able to say goodbye to your long distance days!

Susan and Darcen’s big day is July 14 and will happen here in Lethbridge. The plans are for an outdoor wedding. I told Susan that I was more than willing to set up chairs in the backyard, however I don’t think that’s her vision. From the sounds of it, it’s going to be a beautiful day, and you can see her plans progress by visiting her website (click here). Susan graduated in December with her B.A. and has plans to get her Education degree in the near future. Darcen will finish next December. I’m excited for these two, not only because they are both great friends, but mostly because I’m responsible for where they are today!

long overdue...

I used to be addicted to this thing, and now I see it has been almost two months since my last post. Funny how that works. Well, I guess I should equip this ever so special number one post of 2006 with an enthusiastic HAPPY NEW YEAR! Christmas and New Years were absolutely wonderful. It was very relaxing, but I’m glad to be back in the swing of things. After about the 2 week point, the boredom started to kick in! And now it’s hard to believe that week three of my 6th semester of university is almost over! Although I’m quite thankful that time is going so fast! I just can’t wait for the day when I have that piece of paper in my hand that declares me a highly educated human being!
This year so far has been quite interesting. January was an unusual month for me, so I’m wondering what the future months have in store for me! Will this be the year I land a major role in this years blockbuster? Sing a duet with Michael Buble? Win the lottery? Enter the realm of relationships? Who knows what 2006 will hold….although I’m willing to bet Buble is probably out of the question. Darn.
